The Place Emile-Goudeau is a small cobbled square on the Montmartre hill that looks out over a street that leads steeply down to Rue des Abbesses. In the hot summer it provides trees and shade and benches for those who climb the long hill to Sacre Coeur. It was a little odd sitting on my bench with everyone ahead of me looking out in the same direction. A bit like being in church.
