What kind of prints does Louisa McCabe offer?

Giclée (zhee-clay) describes the reproduction method used to create these fine art prints. This method is the most effective for reproducing color. It is a French word meaning sprayed ink. Normal professional printers and home printers use four colors to reproduce images. Giclée prints use eleven colors. This ensures the most accurate and rich color printing. The artwork is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Bright White by Hahnemühle, a high-quality fine white cotton Fine Art paper used exclusively for fine art printing.

Who owns the copyright of the originals and prints?

Louisa McCabe maintains copyright to each image that she creates and they are all registered with the US Library of Congress.

What is a Certificate of Authenticity?

A Certificate of Authenticity authenticates that the signed original or printed piece originates from Louisa McCabe Art.

What is an art commission?
An art commission is the hiring and payment for the creation of a custom piece of original art.

A commission provides collectors with original works of art of a particular size, for a certain space, and/or of a specific subject matter.

How long does it take to complete a commission?

Every commission is unique, and each collector is provided with an estimate based on:

  • Date the commission is booked

  • Size of work

  • Subject matter

  • Travel time, if applicable

  • Once the commission is started it generally takes 15 days to paint and another 10-15 days to organize the photography.

What type of media does Louisa McCabe use?

Currently Louisa is using ink and watercolor. This coming year she plans a series in oil.

What is a “Certificate of Title?”

A “Certificate of Title” guarantees the provenance of your painting.

It is required to establish the collectible and insurable value.

To be valid it must detail the original work of art, contain your contact information, the artist’s signature, and date.

How do I care for my painting?

Hang your framed watercolor painting or print on an interior wall away from sunlight which may cause it to fade.

What does “© All rights reserved” mean?

It means that Louisa McCabe is the sole legal owner of her intellectual property and she reserves all of her rights.

Ownership of a physical painting does not constitute any reproduction rights, in other words, making copies is not permitted under the law.

All of Louisa McCabe’s images are registered with the Library of Congress through the US Copyright office. This applies internationally as well.

Federal and international copyright laws strictly prohibit reproduction of any kind, including but not limited to electronic reproduction, without prior written authorization from Louisa McCabe.

Unauthorized reproduction creates significant legal liability and penalties.

Violators have, and will be, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Why does Louisa McCabe enforce her copyright?

Louisa McCabe’s images are her sole intellectual property.

These works represent a source of current and future income and they comprise the Louisa McCabe brand. Therefore Louisa McCabe Art must take every measure to protect these assets and the company’s brand image.
