This painting is from Zaragoza, the Spanish city below the Pyrenees about halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. Goya was born not far away and they celebrate him as a local hero.

We were heading back to the hotel after dinner and of course the local Spaniards were just emerging for the evening. They famously have dinner around 10pm and go out after that.

This little square had yellow street lights that gave the scene an eery and theatrical feel.
